I think about this constantly while building Neotoma. I chose not to issue a token. I chose to ship a developer release and collect real feedback from real testers. Not because tokens are inherently bad. Some large innovations require temporary belief excess to survive long enough to deliver. But the key variable is feedback loop integrity: whether reality reliably corrects the system.
